Free Credit Monitoring for Those Affected by Target Data Breach

If you shopped at Target during the past holiday season Target is offering free credit monitoring for a year, due to their data breach. You go HERE to sign up. They have a FAQ section that may answer questions you might have.

The one year of free monitoring membership to ProtectMyID includes:
• Credit Report: You will get a free copy of their Experian credit report. If you enroll online, your report will be available online. Online credit reports are available for 30 days.

• Daily Credit Monitoring: You will receive alerts for one year that reflect changes to your Experian credit report during your membership term. This includes new inquiries, newly opened accounts, new derogatory information (such as delinquencies or medical collections) and more.

• Identity Theft Resolution: If confirmed that you have been the victim of identity theft, you will be assigned a dedicated, U.S.-based Experian Fraud Resolution Agent who will walk you through the fraud resolution process—and remain available to answer questions—from start to finish.

• Identity Theft Insurance: If you have been a victim of identity theft relating to this incident, you will immediately be covered by a $1 million insurance policy that can help you cover certain costs, including lost wages, private investigator fees, and unauthorized electronic fund transfers for one year.

• ProtectMyID ExtendCARE: Access to personalized assistance from a highly-trained Fraud Resolution Agent will continue even after the initial one year ProtectMyID membership expires.

Free Credit Reports – Know What is On Your Credit Report

I’ve posted this before, but I have been asked for the information, so I’m posting it again.

Did you know you can request a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months?  It is important to verify the information on your credit report periodically.  If you have excellent credit, don’t assume everything is okay.  If you have less than perfect credit, review your report to make sure everything is correct, and use it as a tool to see where you stand.  Knowing what you owe is an important step in getting out of debt.

There are three nationwide credit reporting companies:  Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.  Get you free copy of each report from AnnualCreditReport.com.  This is a FREE service, not to confused with sites that require a membership.  Each of the 3 credit reporting agencies will offer to sell you your credit score.  You are not required to buy the credit score to get the credit report.

Apply to Become an All You Reality Checker

You may have heard of All You magazine, but did you know they have a Reality Checker program. All You Reality Checkers have the opportunity to have their voices heard. You can take surveys, and sometimes you get to test free products. You can even answer their questions and have an opportunity to be in one of their magazines.

I have been a reality checker for over a year and I have gotten to try several products. Just last week I received a box with a bottle of Suave shampoo and a bottle of conditioner. These were the large 28 oz. bottles. Previously I received a 12-pack of Cottonelle bath tissue, and a full size pack of wipes. After I tried each of the products I was sent a brief survey to complete. Nothing too time consuming.
