I wanted to put together a gift basket for a co-worker and his wife who are expecting. I decided to put my coupon experience to work. I thought about all of the things we use or used for our little ones and made a list of things that would come in handy. I waited for each of the items to be on sale and paired the sales with coupons.
I bought a basket at Michael’s when I had a 40% off one item coupon. I’m not a big fan of making a gift basket with cellophane, so I thought I’d try something new, tulle. It is light weight, it comes in a variety of colors, you can see through it, and it’s affordable.
To assemble the basket, I lined the basket with the tulle. I then placed two receiving blankets in to cover the bottom and sides. Then I arranged each of the items in the basket.
Simply pull the tulle up and gather it at the top. Tie it off with some decorative ribbon (purchased at Michael’s with a 40% off coupon), and trim the tulle as needed.

The August Lego Store Monthly Mini Model Build is coming up. On Tuesday, August 6, beginning at 5:00 pm (while supplies last), visit your local Lego store for this month’s model. This month’s model is a Lego Flamingo. The mini build event is open to children ages 6 to 14 only.
If you like the Lego Mini Builds, but it just isn’t in the schedule to go to a Lego store on a Tuesday evening, you can download the instructions from previous mini build events HERE. If it requires some unique piece that your child just doesn’t have, Lego does sell individual pieces.
I have always hated to throw out expired coupons. Last year I learned that military families stationed overseas can use expired coupons up to 6 months past their expiration date. I found Expired Coupons For Overseas Military, an organization that matches up overseas families with state-side families.
Right now, ECOM has a 3+ month wait list for families to be adopted. They would really like to hear from anyone who is serious about adopting a family to send coupons to each month. They ask that you send out coupons every 4 to 6 weeks, and that you send coupons that are no more than 4 months past their expiration date. In case you were not already aware, the cost of sending an envelope/package to an overseas military address is the same as sending within the US.
I have been doing this for a year or so now, and with my mom’s help, we collect enough coupons to adopt a second family. Personally, I like knowing that even if I missed out on using a good coupon, someone else may be able to use it.

Starting tomorrow (7/24) select varieties of Kellogg’s Cereal will be on sale for $1.99 at Fry’s. The ad does not specify exactly which varieties are on sale. We have some coupons that could bring the price down to as low as $0.99:
